Junior ISH

What is Junior ISH?

At Junior ISH, you will work in two phases over a 30-week period to develop yourself as both a performer and a creator.

You’ll be guided by a team of professionals who help you grow and develop your skills. Starting in September, you’ll follow workshops designed to take your skills to the next level. From January onwards, you’ll use your own creativity and artistic vision to work together with a choreographer towards a final performance.

Junior ISH consists of two phases:

• Phase 1: You develop your own creativity and artistic voice while working towards a presentation of your own work.
• Phase 2: You collaborate with a choreographer to create a collective performance.

Whether you already have a lot of experience or are ready for the next step: Junior ISH is for young people who want to seriously develop themselves as performers and makers.

Practical Information | Season 2026 – 2027

• Age: 14+
• Duration: September 2026 – April 2027
• Junior ISH consists of two phases: autumn 2026 and winter/spring 2027
• Training day: Every Saturday from 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM at Het Talentenhuis
• Participation fee: €160 for 12 weeks (per phase)

No budget? No problem.

Discounts are available through Stadspas and the Youth Fund for Sport & Culture. Thanks to the support of the ELJA Foundation, scholarships are also available for participants for whom participation is financially difficult. Payment in installments is possible.

Phase 1 — Creating Your Own Production (Sept – Dec 2026)

During the first phase, you will work on your own performance and creative identity. Together with professionals and other participants, you’ll develop material that will be presented during a shared presentation day.

Daily Schedule

• 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM → joint masterclasses
• 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM → in-depth masterclasses
• 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM → break
• 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM → creating & developing work

Class Dates

• Starting Saturday, September 5, 2026
• Saturday September 12, 19, 26
• Saturday October 3, 10, 24, 31 (no classes during the autumn holiday on Saturday October 17)
• Saturday November 7, 14, 21, 28

Presentation

• Presentation Day: Saturday, December 6
• Return Day: Sunday, December 13

Phase 2 — Working with a Choreographer (Jan – Apr 2027)

During the second phase, you’ll work together with a choreographer towards a collective performance.

Daily Schedule

• 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM → joint masterclasses
• 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM → working with choreographer / creative process
  (breaks in consultation and at your own discretion)

• Saturday January 9, 16, 23, 30
• Saturday February 6, 13, 20v(no classes during the spring holiday on Saturday February 27)
• Saturday March 6, 13, 20, 27
• Saturday April 3

Performance

• Performance weekends: April 9 – 11
• or April 15 – 17
  (final dates will be announced later)

Entry Opportunities

There are opportunities for:

• Young ISH participants to continue into Junior ISH from January onwards
• new highly talented performers to audition on December 12, 2026

Location

Classes take place in the makers studio at Het Talentenhuis, Meer en Vaart 290, 1068 LE Amsterdam. The location is a 3-minute walk from Osdorpplein Oost tram stop and is easily accessible by bike, car, and public transport.
