Rhythm & Flow

Inspired by the phenomenon of murmurations, the fluid movement of flocks of birds through the sky, choreographer Marco Gerris lets different disciplines merge and separate in constant motion. A dancer challenges a musician, the beat intensifies, and adrenaline starts pumping as they surrender completely to each other’s flow. Without rhythm, there is no flow

Music, hiphop, breaking, parkour, and freestyle: every discipline has its own cadence. In a stream of energy, the performers are carried by the beat as they play with light and space. Moving together in perfect synergy, they create an entirely new rhythm. The stage-filling tubular construction becomes a giant playground for twelve performers and two musicians. This breathtaking performance keeps audiences on the edge of their seats from beginning to end.

Rhythm & Flow returns on tour

With this spectacular production, artistic director Marco Gerris returns to the roots of ISH, where hiphop dance and urban sports come together. Designed by Ascon de Nijs, the impressive giant tubular structure transforms into a playground for the performers. Inspired by murmurations, the production unfolds into a fluid and visually striking performance that was met with great acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Rhythm & Flow received outstanding reviews and won the Dutch Swan Award for Most Impressive Dance Production 2024. The jury stated:
